5 NATURAL HAIR CARE PRODUCTS YOU SHOULD BE USING

This is a sponsored post for Target. However, the words and opinions are completely my own! 🙂

Hey guys! I’ve been on somewhat of a healthy hair kick (easing my way into it, anyway). I wanted to explore what healthy hair products are out there without spending too much, because I ain’t gonna lie,

anigif_enhanced-buzz-28318-1424473602-6

Luckily, I’ve teamed up with Target to share some new all natural hair care products that are free of harmful chemicals and full of nutrient-rich, restorative and plant-based ingredients.

Here is my experience using Target’s new all natural hair care products for the first time! 🙂

The first two are SoapBox’s Bataua Fruit shampoo and conditioner.

Screen Shot 2015-04-22 at 8.42.54 PMScreen Shot 2015-04-22 at 8.42.35 PM

These products are packed with fatty acids and amino acids (which helps your hair grow) to nourish your scalp and hair. Make sure to wait 3-5 minutes before rinsing your hair.

HERE’S THE COOL PART: With every bottle you buy, SoapBox will provide a month’s supply of clean water to a community in need! #SoapEqualsHope

Ummmmmmmm, whaaat?

IYyn46tl55Yyc

The last three are from the Renpure line. No sodium chloride, sulfates, dyes, harsh salts, parabens, or gluten. GET OUTTA HERE, GLUTEN.

These products are mainly to repair and cleanse your hair, which means extra time in the shower. I’ve always been used to shampooing, conditioning and BAM. Done. Quick shower. However, I thiiiink not going the extra step to repair is one of the reasons why my hair isn’t as healthy as it should be.Screen Shot 2015-04-22 at 9.10.21 PM

The cleansing pudding requires running the product through your hair, starting from root to tip. Not in a shampooing motion. And to detangle, use a wide tooth comb (had to google what that was, don’t judge me). Reading this made me feel very anxious because I don’t think I’ve never FULLY detangled my hair, because, OUCH.

ANYWAY- I pushed through my childhood detangle nightmares induced by my abuelita, and did what had to be done because I’m a grown woman.

After using these products I’ve definitely noticed my hair feels waaaay lighter and smells heavenly. But most importantly,  just knowing what was going into my hair made me feel a sense of control. Listen, I’m not trying to tell you how to live your life, but I think we can all benefit from using all natural products.

Your hair is sacred and should be treated like a QUEEEEEEEN. Just like you!

I hope I’ve given you some insight or even giggles. If I did,

NEUTROGENA® Acne Selfie Challenge!(GIVEAWAY!)

This a compensated post in collaboration with Latina Bloggers Connect and NEUTROGENA®. Opinions and experiences with product are my OWN! <3

 (GIVEAWAY!)
Hey guys!
This week I’m teaming up with Neutrogena to encourage you to bring out your inner Kim Kardashian!
Err- I mean SELFIE wise.
We all have an inner Kim K, and not the whole “selfish selfie” side, but it’s that confidence we’re always either too shy to bring out, or too embarrassed. We need to stop being this way, and ENJOY today! I think of selfies as documenting life-in the moment. Don’t think of it as superficial, instead think how we’re never going to be as young as we are today. So why not celebrate by creating memories?!
Here are my tips on the perfect selfie while practicing good skin care with the Neutrogena® oil-free Pink Grapefruit Line!
Let’s be honest- pimples SUCK. Especially when they pop up in the most inconvenient times. One way to tame acne is through good skin care. Neutrogena® oil-free Pink Grapefruit Line has products to prevent those random pimples.
Oil-Free Cleansing Wipes – Pink Grapefruit are perfect for taking off your make up at night without leaving your face greasy.
Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub and Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser will do the trick when it comes to pesky break outs, while delivering a refreshing blast of 100% naturally derived grapefruit extract and vitamin C. Did I mention it smells amazing?!
  1. LIGHTING IS EVERYTHING: Natural lighting facing you is the best for selfies. Not only that, just letting the sun touch your skin as you soak up it’s positive vibes and energy!  But also…make sure it doesn’t wash out your face!
  2. SELFIES WITH RANDOM THINGS: Memories are the best when they’re captured in a picture. I always try to create memories via selfie by taking pictures with random, interesting things. Then you can look back and think, “Did I really do that?!”.
  3. SELFIES WITH FRIENDS: I try to take selfies with my friends all the time. First, a normal picture, then a completely silly one. Life isn’t meant to be lived so seriously, so a funny face selfie with your BFF is a must!
  4. SMIZE: Definition via Urban Dictionary:  ‘Smile with your eyes,’  “as coined by supermodel Tyra Banks on the thirteenth cycle of America’s Next Top Model. The art of smizing is epitomized by the legendary Super Smize.”  BASICALLY- smile with your eyes! It helps to thinking about something that makes your heart happy. For me, it was BREAD!
Just kidding, it was my puppy!

 ON TO THE GIVEAWAY!

Neutrogena Face-Off Challenge!

This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with NEUTROGENA and Latina Bloggers Connect. However, the words and opinions are my own! 🙂

 Hey loves!
I took part in the #NeutrogenaRostroLimpio (clean face) Face-Off challenge!

First, here’s my little background story:
I used to leave my makeup on at night just out of pure laziness. Which is the WORST thing you could ever do to your face…i’ve learned now…lol.

I noticed I started getting blemishes ALL over my face, which increased my insecurities. But once I started using Neutrogena’s makeup remover cleansing towelettes to take off my makeup every night, they were gone! I also have sensitive and dry skin, and didn’t notice any irritation.

I use these makeup wipes every night, religiously and swear by them. Did you know these wipes take off 99.3% of all traces of dirt, oil, and makeup that usually clogs (ew…lol) your pores? That’s a rostro limpio. 🙂 You can get them at your local food/drug store. They retail for about $8.99 for 25 towelettes with Vanity Case (shown in the picture) or $6.49 for 25 refills. Either way, they are super affordable!

Here is the challenge:

1.Use the wipes to take off your makeup, (along with your typical daily cleanser).

My face before taking off my makeup. GET READY FOR A NAKEY FACE!!

2.THEN, use a white towel to dry your face.

3. Lastly, notice how WHITE the towel is because your face is super duper spotless after using the awesome Neutrogena makeup remover. 😀

*cue the Ooooos and Awwwws*

Don’t just stop there, make sure to check out all the other goodies Neutrogena has to offer!

What have we learned today, kids? Take care of your face and it’ll take care of you! (That sounded better in my head)

Love, Maya

Holiday Faves!

This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Neutrogena and Latina Bloggers Connect
Hey guys! The holidays are here, which means family, food and holiday parties. (But mostly food…) and I LOVE to get dolled up for a party. When it comes to make-up, I’ve always been low maintenance. All I need is foundation, mascara, blush and eyeliner. I don’t like make up that clumps up, or clogs up my pores. If you’re the same, Neutrogena cosmetics are super duuuper simple. Here are some of my favorites for the holiday!

  • Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup(Natural Ivory 20) $13.99
  • Neutrogena Crease Proof Eye Shadow(Lasting Taupe)$7.99
  • Neutrogena Healthy Lengths Mascara  $8.99
  • Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick(Bright Berry)$8.99

I highly suggest the healthy liquid makeup if you want a light coverage. I love it because it doesn’t feel like I have any makeup on! Another biggie for me is eye shadow because I never know what looks good with my eyes, or even how to put it on.The Crease Proof Eyeshadow is just a stick of eyeshadow! All you do is rub it on your eyelid and BAM! You’ve got a subtle yet sessi (couldn’t say that word without giggling) look! If you wanted a heavier look, just reapply. Eyelashes are EVERYTHINGGGGGGGGGG. I seriously love Healthy Lengths mascara because it’s supposed to help your lashes grow longer, AND make them look bold (also bootiful). (It’s safe to wear if you have sensitive eyes, or wear contacts) Lastly, lips. If you’re going to a holiday party, you gotta rock either a bold red lip, or a cute flirty pink lip. MoistureSmooth Color Stick has a nice bright color, while still hydrating your lips. And you are gonna need that when that cute boy walks over to you with a mistletoe…*WINK WINK* hahahaha jk. That only happens in the movies.*ugly cries inside* At the end of your magical night, make sure to take off your makeup with some Makeup Removers!!

ANYWAY. These are my holiday favs because they make me feel pretty on the inside, and outside. Also because I know these products won’t ruin my face with harsh chemicals 😉

DIY NAILS

Here are a couple of DIY nail tutorials. Whenever the holidays are here, I always have the urge to glitter my nails bright red. I don’t know why, but it makes me feel it’s officially christmas season. Anyway, here it is!

GLITTERED NAILS:
1.First, put a clear coat on your nails, then dab the glitter over them while they’re still wet.

2.Let the glitter dry over the clear coat, and once it’s fully dry put another clear coat over the glitter just to make sure it stays on.

3.Once you’ve finished both hands, and your nails are COMPLETELY dry, then go wash your hands a couple of times, just to get off the excess glitter on your hands. Because there will be lots!

NOTE: If you want them to last- put on an extra clear coat.

If glitter isn’t for you, here is an alternative!
I have another tutorial where I decoupaged all of the Twilight books. haha Don’t judge me, I was sixteen or something… (*sigh*TEAM JACOB)

 DECOUPAGED NAILS:
 Collage Pauge® Instant Decoupage™

  • Clear nail polish
  • Printed images on THIN PAPER of Breaking Dawn movies images or Twilight book covers
  •  Scissors
  •  Paintbrush
  •  Directions:

 1. Paint your nails with two coats of your favorite nail polish color, let dry between coats.

 2. Print out images for your nails, resize them using a computer program like word or an image program. Size them to fit your nails, cut them out.

3. Using a paintbrush, apply a coat of Collage Pauge to your nail and then affix the image. Use the brush to smooth it out. Make sure all the ends are sealed down.

 4. Apply a coat of Collage Pauge on top of the image, let dry. Again, make sure images are sealed down.

5. Add a coat or two of clear nail polish and let dry between coats. This will make them waterproof.

 6. If you want, you can add clear glitter polish for an extra “sparkle” effect!

NOTE: They won’t last forever, but about a day or so, especially if you wash your hands a lot.

MayaInTheMoment’s NYC Favs!

Hey guys! I just got back from NYC, and it was probably the best trip I have ever been on. (Mind you that this is my sixth or seventh year traveling to the Big Apple.) With that, here are my top 5 fav things I did on this New York City trip.

1. NYC in Fall
Those leaves, crisp air, and pumpkin spice lattes(do u even pumpkin spice latte?! jk) I honestly LOVE FALL. Especially in NYC. Since I’m from Arizona,(where the sun’s kisses are like satan’s farts in your face.Wait, what?) it was nice wear a jacket and scarf for once. Also, look how pretty Central Park is!!!

BoiFromIpanema playing in the leaves.

2. Central Park’s Bubble Man (Yes, BUBBLES!)
There’s this magical man in Central Park, around Bethesda Fountain. He literally has a huge net that he dips in a bucket containing magical bubble juice. Then, he waves it around and all the lil’ children gather to pop them. These bubbles are gigantic, and they were MY bubbles. (Finding Nemo reference, anyone?)

BOSS.

3. Eataly’s EVERYTHING.
Oh.My.Gawt. This place is heaven. Eataly, according to the internets: “is a high-end Italian food market/mall chain which first opened in Turin, Italy, in January 2007. A New York City Eataly opened in August 2010.”
The food is heaven. The atmosphere is heaven. The coffee is heaven. Even though it’s expensive, it’ll definitely be worth your money. I just…unffff.

4. Museum of Natural History
Yeah, nuff’ said.

5. FRIENDS!
My favorite part of traveling is experiencing it with friends. BoiFromIpanema, Jeshua, is probably my favorite travel partner. (Also, possibly my favorite person, because well, he’s amazing) You gotta have a ride or die when you travel. Some who will drag out to get late night pizza because it’s tradition. (Thanks for that, btw!) It’s also good to have local friends who can show you around. Ever since Vine, I’ve befriended so many wonderful people. I was happy I got to meet some of them in NYC!

Clockwise:
1. First night of meeting Vine friends.
2. Second night meeting Vine friends.(Us in Action!)
3. My beautiful cousin Christina!
4. BoiFromIpanema, my favorite travel partner<3

Overall, I always have SO much fun whenever I go to New York. If you’re planning on a vacation, I recommend this wonderful place. Bring comfortable shoes though. (Btw, Thank you Justice, for letting me borrow your winter clothes and boots. <3) I <3 New York. Every time I come back, I always feel like the possibles are endless. I feel so inspired to kick up my career, and to some day reside in the big city. Until next time, New York!

QUESTION: What are YOUR travel favorites?

MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY-My Advice!

I’m bringing back Motivational Monday! I found these pictures via Tumblr.
These are my tips and insight from my own experiences!

1. Don’t Take Things So Seriously.

I know you’re a hard worker and you’re probably working toward something that is going to benefit your life. But it is LIFE. There are so many wonderful things out there that should be worth taking the time to STOP and look at. Stop and smell the roses. Relax, and take a load off. Too much work will eventually make you into a crazed fire breathing dragon. Life will go on. Go to the beach. Go hang out with people who have fun. Break out of your routine. Do something silly. Shake your snow globe as my mom, the Crafty Chica would say!

 2. Love for the Right Reasons.

Loneliness can be a major pain in the heart. But that shouldn’t be the reason why you’re ready to date, or love again. Love is so sacred and powerful. Loving for the wrong reasons just leaves you more wounded than before. Love yourself first. Write a list of what you deserve, and what YOU could contribute. Love isn’t one sided and shouldn’t be all “take take take.” You’ll know when you’re ready.
3. Surround Yourself Wisely

Surround yourself with happy people. If anything, I’ve learned that happy people are so much more fun! haha I know everyone has their highs and lows. So surround yourself with someone who’ll lift you up, not drag you down. Surround yourself with people who inspire you and push you to be a better you. With that, inspire them to do the same. We’re all hustlin’ to be the best, and instead of fighting, let’s start building each other up!

These are my tips for Motivational Monday! See you next Monday!!!

Katy Perry Lashes by Elure Review!

Hey everyone! This is first of many beauty reviews! I LOVE false eyelashes. I think they’re a great enhancement that’ll light up your face, and eyes. (OoLaLa!) I’ve seen Katy Perry Lashes  in Target for quite sometime now and have always been curious to try them.(They are also $6.99…) So, I built up the courage to try them and see what the hype was about. (What a tough decision…I know.) Ms. Perry’s has four different lashes:

I picked these!

The application was super easy, considering the glue came with a tiny wand, Rather than getting it all goopy on your fingers, or cotton swab. The directions provide wonderful tips and suggestions on how to perfectly apply and fit them. This was a SUPER easy process. Usually by the end of my application process, I’m so fed up with trying to reglue…I just rip them off. haha..serious. I DREAD putting these little suckers on. Until now! Thanks Katy Perry and Eylure, I didn’t want to rip these off. 😉 I give these lashes FOUR out of Five Heart Flutters!!

Love, Maya
